Danish wind OEM Vestas has received an order from Akuo Energy to supply three Polish wind projects with turbines that have a combined capacity of 132MW.

The manufacturer will supply 19 of its V136-3.45MW turbines and one of its V126-3.45MW machines to the Wielowies project in southern Poland that will all be operating in a 3.3MW mode. Vestas will also deliver 22 of its V110-2.0MW turbines to the EP 44 project, and 11 machines of the same model to the Gniew project. Both are located in northern Poland.

“This achievement is the result of Akuo’s continuous efforts to develop sustainable clean energy solutions in Poland for past years, and the result of a close cooperation with Vestas’ teams to implement site specific and cost optimised solutions despite current global high demand in the wind energy sector,” said Akuo’s chief executive Eric Scotto.

Akuo had won the right to build the three projects at a tender launched by the Polish government in late 2018.

Warsaw at the end of this year also auctioned off 2.5GW in onshore wind and solar capacity, but so far hasn’t announced the result yet.

All thee wind projects will come with a 15-year service agreement, with turbine deliveries expected to start in the third quarter of next year, and commissioning planned for the second half of 2020.

"This order, from our valued, long-term partner Akuo Energy, once again underlines our ability to leverage our extensive expertise across the value chain to deliver a solution that ensures clean energy at the lowest cost of energy to the Polish energy consumers,” said Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe.
