The utility will use a combination of 24 V90-3.0MW and 31 V90-1.8MW turbines for its Solano 3 project, an expansion of the site where SMUD first installed wind turbines in 1994. The deal includes a service and maintenance agreement with a term of up to 15 years.
SMUD in 2008 set a goal of 33% renewable energy by 2020. Earlier this autumn, the California Air Resources Board adopted regulations requiring all state utilities to hit this target.
