The $70m project was built by Grupo Salinas, a major Mexican corporation that operates in the television industry, the telecommunications sector, and the financial markets, and Grupo Dragon, an agrochemical corporation.

The project will supply the Grupo Salinas’s retail stores and the 38 municipalities of Chiapas, and should avoid the emission of 45,000 tonnes of CO2.

Vestas provided 16 V90-1.8MW turbines for the turnkey project, which includes a ten-year maintenance contract.
