The Danish turbine giant, which owns factories in Colorado, has been on a hot streak in the US in recent months, winning big orders for its 2MW and 3.3MW models from a number of developers, including Xcel Energy for its 600MW Rush Creek project in Colorado and Capital Power for its 178MW Bloom project in Kansas.
But the primary reason for Vestas’ remarkable performance of late boils down to a single deal: MidAmerican Energy’s massive XI project in Iowa.
