The order for 190 V90-3.0MW turbines – 570MW of capacity – represents Vestas’ largest single-site order, the company says.
It also marks a huge victory in the emerging battle for the multi-megawatt wind turbine market in the US, where General Electric, Mitsubishi and others are trying to establish their offerings.
The turbines are scheduled for a late-2010 delivery to the Alta Wind Energy Center, a multi-phase project being built in one of the oldest wind development areas of the US.
