Vestas clinched the order for 55 units for Belwind only days after the project was purchased by a new consortium of investors from its failed parent company, Econcern.
Vestas had been named the preferred supplier for the project, which will be built 46km off the coast of Zeebrugge, in 2008. The V90-3.0MW turbines will be used in the construction of the project’s first phase, which will total 165 megawatts (MW).
