The Danish turbine manufacturer, which has spent close to $1bn to localize manufacturing in the market, says it was its best sales performance since entering North America 30 years ago. The company’s next-best year was 2007 when it sold turbines with more than 1.5GW of capacity.

Vestas Americas president Martha Wyrsch notes that the 2010 sales came against a backdrop of “economic challenges facing the wind business and many other industries since 2008”.
