Vestas secured another big project win in Finland for its largest wind turbine, with an order for the EnVentus V162-5.6 MW that continues a stellar run in the Nordic nation.

The Danish group will deliver 19 of the giant turbines to two projects totalling 101MW under development by Puhuri.

The deal – which comes with a 25-year service agreement – takes Vestas’ Finnish order total to more than 800MW in 2019, three-quarters of it for machines from the EnVentus platform that was only unveiled at the start of the year.

Finland has emerged as a handy European growth market for wind OEMs, helped by excellent capacity factors and ambitious renewables policies to help secure energy independence from Russia.

Vestas’ first ever order for the 5.6MW machine came from Finland in June with a 151MW deal.
