Denmark’s Vestas came out on top in the rankings of analyst Wood Mackenzie of the world’s largest wind turbine makers last year, at a stroke becoming the first OEM to break through the barrier of 15GW in annual installations.

“Vestas broke its record of 10GW-plus in annual installations set in 2019 to breach the 15GW mark in 2020, a threshold that may take peers a few years to breach, on account of a broader geographic coverage of 34 individual markets [five more than its closest competitor],” WoodMac principal analyst Shashi Barla said.
