Global wind turbine giant Vestas could open factories in South Korea after forming a joint venture with tower manufacturer CS Wind.

The partners said the JV will “evaluate opportunities for building competitive and sustainable local wind turbine manufacturing facilities for towers, blades and nacelle assembly” as they cited South Korea’s major ambitions in the offshore wind sector.

Vestas chief operating officer Tommy Rahbek Nielsen said: “South Korea has an ambitious green agenda, having pledged carbon neutrality by 2050 and having recently announced plans to construct the world’s largest offshore floating wind farm.”
