Vestas’ CEO insisted the global wind giant can “catch up” over the rest of 2021 after a loss-making first quarter that also saw order intake fall sharply on 2020’s figure.

Henrik Andersen admitted the Danish group had “started the year a bit slower than expected” as he cited “logistical challenges and supply chain bottlenecks… amplified by Covid-19 restrictions in strategic markets and extraordinary events”.

But Andersen added: “We remain positive we will catch up throughout the rest of the year by maintaining a strong focus on executing our 2021 goals and mid-term strategic priorities.”
