Vattenfall finally secured the development green light for its 1.8GW Norfolk Boreas project off eastern England, curing half of a headache that has left the Swedish developer’s North Sea offshore wind plans enmired in the UK consenting system.

Energy secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on Friday approved the project, which was originally due a decision early in 2020 but was forced to wait until now due to a mixture of Covid delays and postponements to address concerns over onshore works and environmental impacts.
