The government in Stockholm has granted Vattenfall a construction permit for a 640MW offshore wind array on the Swedish side of the maritime border at the giant Kriegers Flak cluster.

The utility said its application covers 40 to 50 wind turbines for the area that is adjacent to its 604MW Kriegers Flak wind farm on the Danish side of the sea border, and EnBW’s 288MW Baltic 2 wind farm on the German side.

The three projects originally had been planned together, to form a giant offshore wind cluster linked to all three countries, but so far only the German and Danish parts are connected, while Sweden has lagged behind in its development.
