The project off the south coast of England consists of 100 Vestas V90 turbines and has a capacity of 300MW.
Swedish firm Vattenfall estimates it could generate enough electricity for 200,000 homes and will "substantially increase" the UK’s offshore wind capacity.
Thanet wind farm, located 12km off Foreness Point, supplied power to the National Grid for the first time on 16 May.
