RES, part of the UK's Renewable Energy Systems, bid $880,715 for development rights for the 160,480-acre (649.4sq km) South Lease Area, according to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), an agency of the US Interior Department that oversees wind energy development in federal waters.
US Wind bid $1,006,240 to develop the 183,353-acre (742sq km) North Lease Area.
The agency says the lease sales went seven rounds, an indicator of good competition to secure development rights.
