In its annual market report, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) says the more than 10 gigawatts of new wind capacity installed in 2009 represented 39% of all new generation added in the US.
Wind generated 1.8% of US electricity in 2009, up from 1.3% at the end of 2008. Other renewables, excluding hydro, accounted for another 1.8%. Counting hydro and wind, renewable sources accounted for about 10.5%
