Chicago-based developer PNE Wind USA will own and finance the 90-turbine project. It will lease 3,000 acres (12.1sq km) of property from the Cherokee Nation, where 45 turbines will be sited, and the same area from four other tribes - the Kaw Nation, Otoe-Missouria Tribe, Pawnee Nation and Ponca Nation. The other 45 turbines will be located there.
