The North lease area comprises 74,160 hectares (183,353 acres) and the South lease area 69,944 hectares (160,480 acres). Both tracts are located within a Wind Energy Area that BOEM proposed several years ago in consultation with the state.
About 90% of the Wind Energy Area is located in water depths of less than 30-meters, well-within the range of turbine foundations now in use in Europe and elsewhere.
