US solar and onshore wind in the first half of the year provided 67% of the country’s utility-scale power generation build and expansions, down from 81% a year earlier, as development activity in both sectors slowed due to multiple market headwinds, according to new data from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Developers nonetheless brought 27 wind developments adding up to 5.72GW of capacity into service versus 41 facilities totalling 7.18GW in H1 2021, while FERC data showed 204 solar projects amounting to 3.9GW
