A bipartisan group of US senators is asking the Department of Treasury for a three-year extension of the “safe harbour” provision so that offshore wind projects have more time to remain eligible for federal tax credits given ongoing disruptions from Covid-19.

Citing dislocations in construction operations, labour markets and supply chains, the nine lawmakers in a letter requested Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin to “use your authority to provide relief sufficient to prevent devastation across the offshore wind industry”.
