Two US senators, one Democrat and one Republican, have reintroduced legislation that would extend the 30% investment tax credit (ITC) for the first 3GW of US offshore wind capacity built, regardless of when it came on line.

Democratic Senator Tom Carper of Delaware and Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine, both coastal Atlantic states, floated their Incentivizing Offshore Wind Power Act this week – having previously put forward the same legislation in 2015.

Similar legislative efforts have been made to extend the ITC for offshore wind projects into the mid-2020s, to no avail.
