The EA is available for a 30-day comment period, which ends on 2 January.
The department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will consider public comments on the EA before determining whether to issue a Finding of No Significant Impact, or conduct additional environmental analysis.
In February 2013, DMME submitted a research lease application to BOEM for the installation and operation of two 6-MW turbines, as well as met-ocean monitoring equipment and associated cabling to shore.
