The US’ largest public power utility, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), has launched a solicitation for up-to-5GW of renewables energy plant before 2029, including offshore wind power and paired battery storage, with the utility’s CEO calling the move a “clear signal” of its ambition in carbon-free resource procurement.

“We are taking this bold, decisive action because TVA is uniquely positioned to lead in reducing carbon emissions for the region and the nation,” said Jeff Lyash.
