The Ocean Winds joint venture of French and Portuguese utilities Engie and EDPR has teamed up with regional renewables specialist DISA Group to develop offshore wind farms in the Canary Islands.

Due to the water depths off the archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, the main objective of the collaboration will be to develop floating wind farms, in order to boost the smallish renewable share in the Canaries’ final energy consumption that in 2019 only stood at 4%.
