The deal – expected to close by the end of 2015 – adds to the momentum SunEdison has gained in the wind sector this year, following its January acquisition of Boston-based developer First Wind, the 521MW wind portfolio it bought from Atlantic Power Corp., and its recently unveiled development joint venture with Spain’s Gamesa.
Invenergy – the largest private owner of US wind capacity, and the fifth largest overall – will sell 460MW directly to TerraForm, including its California Ridge project in Illinois, the Raleigh project in Ontario, and the Rattlesnake project, just a few weeks from completion in Texas.
