The three-turbine test range will be built onshore near Clydeport’s site at Hunterston terminal, North Ayrshire. The facility will run in conjunction with SSE’s renewables engineering centre in Glasgow, with the two locations linked via the Firth of Clyde in west Scotland.
An SSE spokesman tells Recharge that Siemens and Mitsubishi are likely to have first crack at the test slots, though no formal agreements have been signed.
