The UK’s health and safety watchdog warned Britain's wind industry over an “unacceptable” slippage of performance after claiming the sector’s track record “has at best stalled if not reversed”.

The Health & Safety Executive’s principal inspector Trevor Johnson wrote to industry stakeholders after studying data from 2020, including the period of the Covid-19 lockdown.

“I have concluded that in some sectors of the wind energy industry, improvements in health and safety performance have at best stalled if not reversed,” Johnson wrote in one letter, made public by the International Marine Contractors Association.
