UK to put offshore wind grid licences up for tender in June

The new regime will come fully into force in June 2010, and after this date, transmitting electricity offshore without a licence will be prohibited.

Licences will be granted through a competitive tender process managed by Ofgem, the Office of the Gas and Electricity Markets, which supports the UK regulator of the gas and electricity industries, the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority.
