UK offshore 'can match combined-cycle gas by end of the decade'

The report, Offshore Wind: Delivering More for Less, by British consultancy BVG. was commissioned by Norwegian hydropower giant Statkraft, which is involved in several large wind projects in the UK North Sea.

It suggests that offshore wind's cost of energy (CoE) is on a trajectory to fall to £76-110 ($118-171) per MWh by 2020, with the potential to hit £53/MWh by 2030 if a repowering strategy is implemented to add 10-12MW turbines to the existing fleet.
