There are now 10,800 full-time employees working directly in the wind and marine-energy sectors, according to trade body RenewableUK, which based its findings on data from 253 companies.
Of those, the majority – or 56% – are associated with large onshore wind development (with turbine output over 100kW). Another 29% work in offshore wind, with another 7-8% involved in the small-scale wind sector, and about the same proportion employed by wave and tidal companies.
