Blades were ripped from two of Japan Steel Works’ 2MW turbines at Eurus Energy’s 30MW Kimotsuki wind farm on the Osumi peninsula in Kagoshima prefecture.

The storm also caused two towers to buckle at the site, Eurus Energy said in an online statement.

The Tokyo-based developer “deeply apologised” for the accident and added that it has shut down the project — which has been in operation since March 2011 — while it investigates the matter.
