German developer RWE has completed the installation of the last of the Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines for its Kaskasi offshore wind farm in the North Sea, a project seen by many observers as key to kick-starting Germany’s stalled offshore wind expansion.

“Together with our partner companies, our team has persistently pushed ahead with the installation of turbines at our sixth wind farm off the German coast,” RWE offshore wind chief executive Sven Utermöhlen said.

“Since July, a total of 38 wind turbines have been successfully installed off the island of Heligoland.
