Hereema Marine Contractors has installed the first out of 27 Vestas V174-9.5MW turbines at the 257MW Arcadis Ost 1 wind project in the German Baltic Sea for the Parkwind consortium.

The contractor used an innovative floating installation method without a jack-up, which the companies said has “zero seabed interaction” – an advantage in areas of significant water depth or challenging soil conditions.

The method also has a shorter installation cycle.

“This first installation is the result of extensive engineering, innovation, and the dedication of our team, alongside Parkwind and Vestas, who together have worked hard to deliver the first floating installation of a wind turbine generator using our novel RNA method,” Heerema Marine Contractors chief operating officer Michel Hendriks said.
