Jens Tommerup said MHI Vestas – formed in 2013 as a 50/50 joint venture between Vestas of Denmark and Japan’s Mitsubishi Heavy Industries – has since then met all the milestones set by its two owners and is now “a fully-funded operation which is ready to meet the requirements to grow and be a major player in the market”.
Tommerup told Recharge the company has played a vital role in the nascent offshore wind industry by rapidly advancing its 8MW turbine to a stage where it is winning orders for large projects.
