Transition mission: oil major Equinor names new CEO to speed 'green shift'

Equinor named Anders Opedal to succeed Eldar Sætre as chief executive from November this year with a mandate to speed up the transition of the Norwegian oil major into a broader and greener energy company.

"The board is proud to present Anders Opedal as our next CEO. Equinor is entering a phase of significant change as the world needs to take more forceful action to combat climate change,” chairman Jon Erik Reinhardsen said.
