Legislation to underpin the growth of a Brazilian offshore wind sector should be approved by the middle of next year at the latest, the senator who drafted the bill told a digital roundtable on opportunities in the sector.

With more than 130GW of future projects under environmental review by the country’s federal regulator Ibama, offshore wind can be a game changer for Brazil, as the South American nation – a global oil & gas industry hub – takes the first steps to implement a robust regulatory framework to address the sector’s needs, the event hosted by Recharge's sister title Upstream was told.
