US retail giant Target has agreed to buy 100MW of wind power from developer Infinity Wind’s planned 474MW Solomon Forks project in Kansas, due on line by the end of 2018.

Target, the second largest discount retailer in the US after Walmart, signed its first wind PPA last year, agreeing to buy 40MW from Starwood Energy Group’s 211MW Stephens Ranch wind farm in Texas.

The deal with Infinity represents Target’s second wind PPA, and its 100MW of purchased wind will power 100% of the energy used at 150 of its stores in the region.
