The initiative – opened for bids by the Bureau of Energy (BOE) on Tuesday – is designed to help the country reach its goal of installing 600MW of offshore wind capacity by 2020 and 3GW by 2030.
Grants will be awarded to two developers, with each required to deliver a two-turbine pilot project by 2015 and a 100-200MW offshore wind farm by 2020.
