Taiwanese legislators are calling for strict bans on 'Chinese content’ in the island’s booming offshore wind sector, citing national security concerns.

In another sign of the deepening politicisation of Taiwanese offshore wind, representatives of the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) raised the issue with top officials of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

DDP legislator Lai Jui-lung warned about the national security risk of using made-in-mainland-China turbine parts including blades, nacelles, foundations, and electronic systems in the island’s offshore wind projects.
