French nuclear giant EDF and Irish developer DP Energy have formed a joint venture to develop an up to 1GW floating wind project in the Celtic Sea in English and Welsh waters.

The project called Gwynt Glas would provide power for about 927,400 homes and contribute a significant part of the Crown Estate’s (the UK’s seabed owner) ambitions for 4GW of offshore wind in the Celtic Sea that was announced in October 2021, according to the French company’s subsidiary EDF Renewables.
