Norwegian utility Statkraft has signed a deal with Energy Isles, a consortium of over 50 mainly Shetland-based companies, to join a wind farm project with a potential capacity of up to 200MW on the Scottish island of Yell.

The Energy Isles project said Statkraft’s entry follows the submission of a full planning application to the Scottish government for the 29-turbine wind farm earlier this year. The project is envisaged to have a total capacity ranging from 145MW to 200MW.
