The €1.1bn ($1.2bn), 1GW Fosen Vind project, which will be built around a fleet of 3.6MW Vestas turbines, will be developed with TrønderEnergi and European investor consortium Nordic Wind Power, with construction starting in the second quarter and switch-on expected in 2020.

"This is an important day. Together with our partners Statkraft has developed the largest renewable energy project in Norway in this millennium. With a 1,000MW project we become one of the leading onshore windplayers," states Statkraft chief executive Christian Rynning-Tønnesen.
