The world’s pipeline of offshore wind projects has almost doubled in a year with projects outside Europe now accounting for a significant majority of global development ambitions, according to latest figures described as “staggering growth” by British industry body RenewableUK.

The global offshore wind pipeline now stands at 846GW, up from 429GW 12 months ago, according to RenewableUK’s EnergyPulse data, which counts projects operating, under construction, consented and planned.
