Marking its expansion into Southern Europe, UK utility SSE Renewables has agreed to buy a large wind and solar development portfolio across Spain, France, Italy and Greece from embattled OEM Siemens Gamesa for €580m ($627m).
The sale pipeline includes onshore wind projects with a combined capacity of 3.9GW in various stages of development, with the possibility to develop up to 1GW of co-located PV arrays.
A team of around 40 people from Siemens Gamesa with vast experience in the sector will be integrated in SSE as part of the agreement.
