GRI is in “active negotiations” with local development officials in Amarillo over the new factory, from which it expects to supply the US market with about 400 towers per year.
The company – part of Spain’s Gestamp group – revealed it would seek further international expansion earlier this year when Japanese industrial group Mitsui took a quarter-share in the business.
The Amarillo plant would join its 10 existing facilities in Spain, Brazil, China, Turkey, India and South Africa.
