Spain could resume renewables tendering by the end of this year under a revamped auction system that incorporates the best features of mechanisms used elsewhere in Europe, in a much-needed boost to developers facing plunging power market prices, said the head of the country’s wind association AEE.

In an exclusive interview Juan Virgilio Marquez, AEE chief executive, told Recharge that new climate and energy legislation, and the restart of auctions are badly needed by the wind industry after a gap in tendering since 2017.
