It takes an average of 42 months to get a building consent for an onshore wind farm in the EU, according to a new report published by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). But there is a huge difference between wait times in various countries, ranging from less than 10 months to nearly 60.
The EWEA points to a number of factors for the enormous disparity, including the high number of officials developers must liaise with in some countries, and a lack of clear administrative guidelines for developers.
