Developers through August brought 2.368GW of wind capacity into commercial operation versus 1.405GW a year earlier, according to the agency’s Energy Infrastructure Update. New solar capacity totaled 1.034GW, down from 1.753GW.
They added 6.211GW of power generation capacity from all sources through August led by natural gas with 2.524GW. Other sources were biomass, coal, geothermal, hydro and oil. This was down from 9.526GW
