US solar and onshore wind provided 70% of utility-scale power generation new build and expansions this year through 30 September, down from 81% a year earlier, as market constraints slowed development activity in both sectors while natural gas was more competitive, according to new data from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
