Onshore wind additions in Germany rose by a third last year, but that was still not sufficient to meet the country’s climate targets and could endanger the security of energy supply in Europe’s largest economy, the industry warned.

Gross installations rose by 35% to 1.93GW in 2021, according to figures by Deutsche WindGuard compiled for wind energy federation BWE and VDMA Power Systems, which represents wind turbine manufacturers.
